Can I sponsor family members on a UAE visa?

UAE Dependent / Family Visa Sponsorship

UAE residents who meet the minimum salary requirement can sponsor their immediate family members on a UAE dependent visa. Here is everything you need to know.

Who Can Be Sponsored?

  • Spouse (husband or wife) — no salary minimum, but sponsor must earn at least AED 4,000/month or AED 3,000 + accommodation
  • Children — typically up to age 18 (or up to age 25 if studying full-time at a UAE university)
  • Parents — eligible if the sponsor earns AED 20,000+/month or AED 19,000 + accommodation (conditions vary)

Minimum Salary to Sponsor a Spouse or Children

  • AED 4,000/month (if accommodation is not provided by employer)
  • AED 3,000/month + employer-provided accommodation

Required Documents for Spouse Sponsorship

  • Sponsor's valid UAE residence visa and Emirates ID
  • Spouse's valid passport
  • UAE-attested marriage certificate (or Mofa-attested)
  • Sponsor's salary certificate or employment contract
  • Recent utility bill or tenancy contract (proof of accommodation)

Required Documents for Children

  • All of the above
  • Child's birth certificate (UAE-attested)
  • School enrolment letter (if child is over 18 and still studying)

Process

  1. Sponsor applies via ICP Smart Services portal or authorised typing centre
  2. Entry permit issued for dependent (if overseas) or status change if already in UAE
  3. Dependent undergoes medical fitness test
  4. Emirates ID biometrics registered
  5. Residence visa stamped

Visa Duration

Dependent visas are typically issued for 1–3 years, tied to the sponsor's residence visa validity.
