Financial Reporting at Kounted
Every bookkeeping client receives a monthly management accounts pack. Here is what is included and how to interpret each report.
1. Profit & Loss Statement (Income Statement)
Shows your revenue, costs, and profit for the month and year-to-date.
Key lines to watch:
- Gross Profit — revenue minus direct costs; shows core business profitability
- EBITDA — earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation
- Net Profit — your bottom line after all costs
2. Balance Sheet
A snapshot of your financial position at month-end.
Key sections:
- Assets — cash, receivables, fixed assets, prepayments
- Liabilities — payables, accruals, loans, VAT/CT liabilities
- Equity — retained earnings and share capital
3. Cash Flow Summary
Shows where cash came from and where it went during the month. Useful for spotting liquidity issues before they become problems.
4. Aged Receivables Report
Lists outstanding customer invoices by age (0–30 days, 31–60 days, 60+ days). Helps you prioritise collections.
5. Aged Payables Report
Lists outstanding supplier invoices. Helps you plan payment runs and avoid late payment penalties.
6. Management Commentary
A brief plain-English summary of the month's key financial movements, flagging anything unusual that warrants your attention.
